NSDC partners with PayPal to empower youth with industry-relevant skills

National Skill Development Corporation has partnered with PayPal to launch a skill development program that will empower youth, including women from low-income families, to pursue careers in India’s banking, financial services and insurance sectors.
The collaboration aims to support thousands of candidates across various Indian cities by providing them with job-ready skills and livelihood opportunities.
The partnership was announced when NSDC Vice President Dr Rishikesh Patankar and PayPal’s Global Chief Technology Officer Srini Venkatesan exchanged the memorandum in the presence of senior members from both organizations.
Empowering women and youth
As part of the partnership, NSDC and PayPal will offer high-quality training programs, with a special focus on women from low-income families.
Dr Rishikesh Patankar said, “At NSDC, our mission is to prepare youth with the essential skills required for employment. This collaboration signifies a major step forward in empowering the youth and women of India to play a vital role in the nation’s progress and development. By providing them with industry-specific skills in the financial sector, we are opening doors to opportunities for meaningful careers and entrepreneurial endeavours.”
Industry-focused skill development
Candidates enrolled in the program will receive training aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework, ensuring they meet industry standards.
They will undergo training that ranges from 420 to 480 hours in domains such as bancassurance relationships, customer service in financial services, sales, data analysis, and accounting. This will help participants gain the financial acumen needed to secure a job or start their own venture in the sector.
Nationwide rollout
NSDC plans to implement the project in districts including Chennai, Patna, Hyderabad, Surat, Indore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Ranchi.
As of March 11, 2025, candidates in these districts are already participating in the training. The organization will also help at least 70% of the participants attend job fairs and interviews, and explore opportunities for self-employment.
Chandramouliswaran, Vice President of PayPal India Global Technology Centre, said, “We are delighted to partner with NSDC in this unique initiative, which directly supports the Indian Government’s Skill India vision. Collaborating with NSDC allows us to empower Indian youth and women with valuable skills, opening doors to economic opportunity and enabling them to contribute to India’s vibrant growth story.”
