TV5MONDE and Villa Albertine Join Forces to Bring Francophone Culture to Audiences Across the United States

TV5MONDE announces the signing of a strategic partnership with Villa Albertine to enhance the visibility and expansion of Francophone culture and ideas throughout the United States. This collaboration will take shape through three major cultural events rolled out across nearly twenty metropolitan areas nationwide.

The United States maintains deep historical, cultural, and economic ties with the Francophone world. French remains the most widely taught foreign language in the country after Spanish. By combining their expertise and networks, TV5MONDE and Villa Albertine aim to strengthen the long-term presence and visibility of Francophone culture in the United States and to highlight its vitality and relevance.

Today, the two institutions formalize a framework agreement supporting the development and implementation of three major cultural initiatives led by Villa Albertine in the United States in 2026:

February to April – Night of Ideas

This annual event—featuring debates, talks, and artistic performances—unfolds over two months in more than twenty U.S. cities, in collaboration with numerous local partners. The free event brings together thinkers, artists, researchers, community leaders, and citizens to discuss key contemporary issues—democracy, society, culture, and the environment—within a spirit of Franco‑American exchange.

June to October – Films on the Green

The French film festival offers free outdoor screenings in parks and historic locations across several major U.S. cities, including Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. Each year, it attracts thousands of attendees and helps introduce wider audiences to the richness and diversity of Francophone cinema.

Year‑Round – CineSchool

This innovative educational initiative provides U.S. teachers and students with free access to a curated selection of Francophone films, accompanied by educational resources—including TV5MONDE EDU—to support French-language learning. Accessible via a dedicated online platform and supported by schools across the country, the program benefits a growing community of thousands of students and educators annually.

“Culture and education are essential bridges connecting Francophones and Francophiles around the world. TV5MONDE is proud to enter into this strategic partnership with Villa Albertine, which will help showcase Francophone works, artists, and ideas throughout the United States while encouraging French-language learning,” said Kim Younes, CEO of TV5MONDE.

“We are delighted to establish this strategic partnership with TV5MONDE, which strengthens several of our flagship programs across the United States. This alliance helps us reach new audiences and increase awareness of Villa Albertine and the many cultural and educational initiatives we lead nationwide,” said Mohamed Bouabdallah, Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy in the United States and Director of Villa Albertine.

In addition to supporting Villa Albertine’s events, TV5MONDE will further extend their reach to new audiences in the United States and around the world through its full ecosystem of distribution channels: linear broadcast, the TV5MONDE+ streaming platform, FAST channels, and social media networks.
